FAQ

Why is the Mistral for singles only?

Since we opened the Mistral over 30 years ago we have kept it exclusively for single or solo holidaymakers.

What is the typical age of Mistral guests?

The Mistral welcomes single and solo holidaymakers of any age, but our guests are predominantly aged 40 plus.

What is the difference between Standard and Deluxe Rooms?

All of our rooms are doubles but for single occupancy only. All are really comfortably appointed but our Standard rooms are in the original part of the hotel and so slightly smaller. All rooms have a balcony or terrace.

Is there a ‘single supplement’ for rooms?

Quite simply ‘No!’

Why do I have to arrange and book my own flight?

Because our guests come from all over the world we don’t include flights in out prices. However our customer service team have extensive experience in advising guests on flights from regional airports throughout the UK and Europe. Just ask us and we’ll come back to you with out recommendations for the best possible deals.

Which airport should I fly to?

Our local airport is Chania which has a locator code CHQ. There are now direct flights from most regional UK airports, and it is easy to fly to Chania via Athens.

Will somebody meet me at the airport?

We organise a free transfer from Chania airport for flights arriving on a Tuesday when you will be met by a Mistral rep. We track all inbound flights and wherever possible, on says other than Tuesday, organise shared transfers for guests to keep the cost down.

Does the hotel cater for vegetarians?

In short yes! The Mistral has its own extensive garden, and the Mistral Kitchen prides itself on home cooking using local produce. Vegetarian cooking is central to the healthy Mediterranean diet and vegetarians always compliment our chef on his vegetarian options.

Are there group activities and do I have to join in?

Every day you’ll find optional trips or tours to go on to discover out lovely island. Whether you choose to go or find a quiet sunbed around the pool and keep to yourself is up to you. Every evening we all sit down together at dinner – so you sort of have to join in, but that’s a big part of being here.
